Keeping Busy During Your Quarantine

Enriching activities for all of us!

It's a hard time for all of us as we self-quarantine at home, whether we're managing our kids, trying to keep our businesses afloat or worrying about older relatives, friends and others at risk. In an effort to keep healthy both physically and mentally, we've compiled this list of things to do from home, from sources near and not so near. This list will keep growing so check back!

The Center for Learning in Retirement (CLR) of Delaware Valley University is pleased to announce that it will be piloting its first ever fully online program this Summer 2020! Let the lifelong learning continue! Online registration for CLR classes begins Monday, May 4 @ Noon and classes start June 1. Online Exhibits

We can't visit our museums in person right now, but many of them have really cool online exhibits!

Hunterdon Art Museum: recently launched virtual exhibitions, where users can tour current shows in Google Virtual Reality.

Mercer Museum: learn more about the beginnings of the museum, recent acquisitions, covered bridges and more.

Eastern State Penitentiary: Check out this virtual tour of the facility - a lot less creepy online!

Independence Seaport Museum: This Philadelphia treasure deepens the understanding, appreciation and experience of the Philadelphia region's waterways through history, science, and art. Check out their online exhibits.

Constitution Center: Learn about the text, history, and meaning of the U.S. Constitution from leading scholars of diverse legal and philosophical perspectives in this very cool online experience.

Princeton University Art Museum: Check out the plethora of varied exhibits available for viewing online along with online activities.

Philadelphia Museum of Art: Want to peruse works by many different artists? More than half of the works in this museum's extensive collection are online: 155,227 objects from their collection of over 240,000.

Philadelphia Museum of Fine Art: With over 16,000 works, PAFA's ever-evolving and internationally renowned permanent collection ranges from 18th- and 19th-century masters that you can browse on their online collection.

Virtual Tours of Six Italian Museums - You can't visit Italy but you can take tours of the following Italian Museums: The Vatican Museums, The Uffizi Gallery in Florence, the Capitoline Museums in Rome, Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan, Trajan's Market in Rome, and Ara Pacis in Rome.

Libraries

Most libraries offer member access to ebooks, audiobooks, emagazines and many, many activities for ALL ages. Some even offer access to Rosetta Stone, SAT prep and other learning sources. Check out your local system.

Education

We can all use some mind-stretching in quarantine! Here are some great resources for kids and adults.

Scholastic offers day-by-day projects to keep kids in pre-k through 12th grade reading, thinking, and growing. This is a free resource!

BrainPop - This animated educational site for kids explores Science, Social Studies, English, Math, Arts & Music, Health, and Technology. They are offering free access as long as schools are closed.

Story Time from Space - astronauts on the International Space Station read stories for kids and perform cool science experiments on this very cool website!

Read Alouds - Children's Authors are participating in online read alouds and activities. This article links to some of the best virtual author activities!

Duolingo - learn a language online for free!

Everything Orchids - Longwood Gardens is offering this free online course

Music & Entertainment

Princeton Symphony Orchestra - The Princeton Symphony Orchestra is offering a number of free activities and resources on their website. These include weekly webcasts of PSO Performances (Play it Forward), recipes created and shared by PSO musicians (Cooking with the PSO), and an interactive virtual art gallery displaying student artwork and writings created as part of their "Listen Up! Response Program" (Virtual Listen Up Gallery).

The Jazz Sanctuary has posted a 45 minute video of their 500th Event Celebration. Enjoy!

Live Concerts - NPR is keeping a list of upcoming live concerts to view online!

Alex & the Kaleidoscope is providing in home concerts that are perfect for getting kids moving and keeping them entertained.

More Cool Stuff

Elwood Park Zoo's Zoo School Live - join these great folks weekdays at 11am on Facebook to learn about one of their resident animals.

Cape May County Park and Zoo - Virtual Zoo School will take place Monday through Friday at 11:30 am. Each day they will feature a short clip of a different animal and teach you all about it. At the end of every clip they will have a challenge for YOU to do right at home.

Cincinnati Zoo's Home Safari Facebook Live - this event is held each weekday at 3pm ET where they will highlight one of their amazing animals and include an activity you can do from home.

Live Animal Cams - observe animals at the San Diego Zoo! Now we can really see what they do when no people are around.

Lunch Doodles - kid's author Mo Willems will host this fun activity each weekday at 1pm!

Kitchen Quarantine - world-famous chef Massimo Bottura is giving free cooking lessons on Instagram

NASA has made their entire collection of images, sounds, and video available and publicly searchable online. These resources are downloadable and copyright free!
