Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County invites professional designers, including furniture makers, interior designers, decorators, artists, craftsmen, and college students studying design, to participate in its “Upcycle/ReStore Designer Challenge”. Designers are provided with an item of their choice from the Habitat ReStore in Chalfont or Langhorne, and they then transform it into a one-of-a-kind furnishing that will be showcased and auctioned at Habitat’s “Hard Hat &High Heels” 2017 gala.

The deadline for restoring and turning in a furnishing for the Challenge is April 1, 2017. The Habitat for Humanity ReStores are located at: 31 Oak Avenue, Suite 100 in Chalfont and 1337 E Lincoln Hwy, in Langhorne.

“Contributing a piece to be showcased in our gala is a great opportunity to display your creative talent,” says Florence Kawoczka, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County.

“We have enjoyed upcycling a furniture piece for Habitat for Humanity's Designer Challenge for the past three years,” says Deanna Lorenti, IFDA, Deanna's Interior Designs. “Each piece has had its challenges but that's what makes it fun to create and makes us think "outside of the box". The satisfaction comes from knowing that you’ve helped raise money to build Habitat homes.”

The Hard Hats & High Heels gala will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 6:30 – 10:00 p.m. at Spring Mill Manor in Ivyland. In addition to the silent auction featuring unique items and exclusive Designer Challenge creations, the evening will also include open bar, hors d'oeuvres, a delicious three-course dinner, and a live auction of special destinations and experiences called by auctioneer Michael Ivankovich. Proceeds provide critical resources for Habitat Bucks’ homeownership and home repair programs. In 2016, the event raised more than $105,000.

For more info, contact Candace Clarke, Resource Development Director, at  c.clarke@habitatbucks.org or (215)822-2812, x316. Tickets to the gala can be ordered  online.
